Easter Experience

Easter Experience 2010

During the week of March 22nd to 26th each one of the seven classes of Goostrey County Primary School, numbering over 200 pupils and their teachers, came in turn to St. Luke’s. After being welcomed and listening to an introductory talk they visited the six "Stations" depicting the Easter Story :-

  • Hopes and Dreams (Palm Sunday)
  • The Servant King (The Washing of the Feet)
  • Remember Me (The Last Supper)
  • Alone (The Garden of Gethsemane)
  • Sharing Our Sorrows (The Crucifixion)
  • Resurrection (The Empty Tomb)

At each Station they listened to the storyteller, thought about what they had heard and took part in a relevant activity (eg eating a piece of bread to "Remember Me").

Later they filled in a questionnaire which showed that most of the children had enjoyed the experience and gained a lot from it to think about.

The Easter Experience is based on an initiative by Gloucester Diocese which has been used by many churches.
